Today's News

Million Dollar Man:

Ted DiBiase has withdrawn from a fan convention set for the WrestleMania weekend, because WWE have booked him to be at the Mania weekend.

Mae Young:

The funeral arrangements for WWE Hall Of Famer Mae Young have been released, Visits are on Tuesday from 5pm until 8pm at Dunbar Funeral Home in Columbia, South Carolina. The Funeral services are the next day, on Wednesday at 2pm, in the same location.

Dana White on WWE Network:

UFC Boss Dana White has shared his views on the WWE Network...

"You know, Vince is a guy who is a trailblazer. Look at the stuff that Vince has done throughout his career with WWE and how he took wrestling and where he brought it. Who knows? Maybe that works for him. Doesn't make sense to me. Now a lot of the distributors are talking about dropping them. He's an animal man; he's a trailblazer. "It's hard to doubt Vince when you look at what he's done. When you talk about Vince's career and the things that he's done - the one thing that everyone says, 'XFL!' Okay, so, one thing he tried didn't work. When I was a little kid, I was watching Vince on TV as one of the commentators. That's how long this guy's been around and how long he's been kicking ass. So, good for him. I hope that it works out for him and I hope that it's successful for him."

Royal Rumble:

The Shield, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns have all been confirmed for the Royal Rumble match, 14 spots remain unclaimed.

Kane:

Kane does not want to remember his past gimmick Isaac Yankem, when, during a radio interview, he was asked about his earliest WWE character, he slammed the phone down on the interviewer.

Sammartino snubbed:

Plans for a statue of WWE Hall Of Famer and wrestling icon Bruno Sammartino have been shelved after NHL team the Pittsburgh Penguins refused to allow the statue any where near their stadium, saying it would demean the tribute already in place to a former player for the team. Sammartino says the funding is still in place, but they need to find a new home for the monument.

The stadium in question has actually been torn down, but the team still own the land, and they flatly refused to allow the wrestler to be immortalized on their property.

Rey's last match?:

Rey Mysterio says he wants Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania, and has offered to put his mask on the line to make the match happen...

"If I were to pick a dream match-up for sometime in the future, it would be against him (Del Rio) and I would definitely put my mask on the line. I want it to be a classic lucha libre style match, mask vs. hair."

He does not directly say that he would then end his career, should he lose the match and his mask, but, I think, based on things he has said in the past about losing the mask, he would announce his retirement.

Hall Of Fame 2014:

There are currently no plans to induct Macho Man Randy Savage into the Hall Of Fame class of 2014, despite his brother finally saying WWE could induct him. Macho fans should not give up hope though, the Ultimate Warrior was not even listed for discussion in the last HOF meeting, and he was the first to be announced. One name likely to be on the list, in addition to the planned WrestleMania 1 main event match, is Paul Bearer. WWE were urged to induct him after his death last year, but they said they were going to honour his wishes, and induct him along with the Undertaker as was always planned, this could mean they plan on inducting the dead man too, but I highly doubt it, hopefully though The Undertaker makes a rare appearance on camera at the show to induct him.

WWE Top 10:

Batista bombs...

WWE / Flintstones:

Daniel Bryan and The Bella Twins have been added to the cast of the upcoming Flintstones / WWE colab movie.

Tommy Dreamer:

Tommy Dreamer has joined TNA's staff.

JR takes shot at TNA:

Hall Of Famer Jim Ross said of this weeks show...

"Bad acting & too many promos especially those out of eye shot of a live audience are a kiss of death in pro wrestling."

He also predicted The Undertaker's last match, saying the person that would have the last go at ending the legendary streak would be John Cena.

So even more reason to hope that match never happens.

Bill Apter joins .Com:

Veteran wrestling journalist Bill Apter has joined the staff of WWE's website, his first article on the site is about Bruno Sammartino losing the WWF title.
