Today's News

ROH:

Adam Cole has re-signed with Ring Of Honor.

Evan Bourne:

Evan Bourne has tweeted he is healthy and ready to return to action.

CM Punk vs Fans:

CM Punk has responded to criticism from fans who say He is not good to meet, and that He has a bad attitude...

"You can't get mad when I blow you off after you poke me in the back or pull on my shirt to get my attention. Respect is a two way street. Use manners and treat me respectfully and I will reciprocate and sign/take pictures.If you're rude, buzz off.I am not a zoo animal. #respect"

Fandango:

The former Johnny Curtis has discussed his career in WWE so far...

On his pre Fandango gimmick...

"I wasn't really exactly sure where they were going with those vignettes. I was willing to do anything to get on TV. Obviously, I wouldn't disagree or argue with any verbiage they're going to give me for talking. Wasn't exactly sure where that was going to go. I don't if necessarily that was the way they wanted the vignettes to go. Obviously, they scratched it, and then I went back on the shelf for a little while [until] the Fandango thing."

On the creation of Fandango...

"Initially, Vince [McMahon] had an idea of a male stripper. We kind of did that in a few dark matches as simply Johnny Curtis. It was like a Dirty Dancing, kind of Swayze deal. I think they saw it and realized real quick that it's a little risky. It was Fandango a little more sexy, a little not quite PG. Vince had an idea to do the ballroom thing, and I embraced it, man. Thing is, if you can play a hard character, a real complicated character like this or the Undertaker — anything that's really far out there — I think you can make money with it if you really embrace it, you know what I'm saying? If you just go into it not really into it, people are going to see right through it and see just a guy playing a character [and] not really into it. I'm like, 'This is an opportunity I've been waiting for for 13, 14 years. I either gotta really embrace this thing or just go back to working for EWA in Maine making 50 bucks a night.'"

On the fans taking to his theme song...

"I almost started smiling when they were doing it just because that Monday Night Raw was unbelievable. For me being a wrestling fan, that was one of those crowds that kind of reminds me of the old ECW [Extreme Championship Wrestling] arena where the fans became part of the show. Anyone that got to go out there that Monday night after 'Mania got to enjoy that crowd. First thought in my head was, 'Oh, can we make some money off of this?' That's all I thought about honestly. We did the Europe tour right after that. The Raw after 'Mania we went to Europe for two weeks on tour, and just the crowd reaction over there was unbelievable, so maybe I'm like the new Hasselhoff where I'm just big over in Europe. [Laughs]"

Diva ready to return:

Rosa Mendes is set to return to the road, after her suspension from WWE for bad behaviour during the European tour.

TNA's ''Big signing'':

"I sincerely apologize to anyone that was in any way offended by my in-ring joke to Pat Patterson on Monday, especially to Pat, whom I hold in the highest regard. I was only trying to take some of the edge off an emotionally challenging moment and I failed. The comment does not in any way reflect my feelings toward the gay and lesbian community. B"

Bully Ray has put TNA over whilst promoting Slammiversary...

"We have some of the greatest veterans of pro wrestling and some of the greatest modern-day wrestlers," said Bully. "There's great in-ring action, great talkers, great brawlers and hot girls. Anything that you want in pro wrestling, you can find in TNA."

Sting talks walking away:

"There is a large wrestling audience that doesn't want to say goodbye to my generation — guys like myself and Hogan — and still appreciates us," Sting said. "It's the same for me. It's hard to walk away. I want to give Boston something to remember."

Jim Ross promotes UK speaking tour:

"I will take the live audience on a journey that starts when I became a wrestling fan growing up as an only child in Westville, Oklahoma through the early days of my career in the territories, the corporate years in the wrestling business, overcoming a few hurdles along the way and up until the present day. These events will also feature a healthy, Q&A session and will conclude with a VIP, personal meet and greet, photo and autograph session. If our concept works in the UK we hope to schedule more dates there and there's been talk of doing a tour in Australia, where I've never traveled, and in North America as well. Time will tell but It's something that has me excited as I feel the presentation has potential. "

Jim Ross reveals his HOF vote for 2014:

He says he wants to see Danny Hodge enshrined...

"Dan traveled the Louisiana roads for years as the reigning NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion and is in every Hall of Fame that includes wrestlers in the world as far as I know," Ross wrote. "Dan was the first wrestler to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated, of which I have a copy, in 1957. The NCAA's version of the Heisman Trophy, given to the top wrestler annually, is called the Dan Hodge Award. Goggle Dan Hodge if you want to read about a legit legend whose exploits will likely never be duplicated. "

The truth is out there:

WWE have revealed the truth behind 8 of wrestling's most famous Urban Legends...

* 1...

Vince would never fire Shawn Michaels...

False...

Shawn Michaels and his then partner Marty Jannetty WERE fired by Vince McMahon, before their WWE careers ever really started. In 1988 perennial jobber Jimmy Jack Funk took offence to the new young stars on the block and during a visit to a local drinking establishment decided to haze them. He was sitting at a table eating glass (Because that's what you did in the 80's) and was constantly challenging the boys to prove that they ''Knew how to party'', Shawn eventually grew tired of the goading and grabbed a glass, and smashed it on his own head. Jimmy Jack went to the office and told Vince that the Rockers trashed the bar, and they were released.

They of course did return later the same year, and the rest is history.

* 2.

Vince sent Nash and Hall to WCW, to kill the competition...

False...

Some really believe that Vince wanted rid of WCW, and orchestrated a maniacal plan to send two of his top guys over to poison their brand.

The facts prove this story is untrue, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall went for the money, and WCW whooped WWE in the ratings for more than a year and a half, Vince's ego wouldn't allow that to happen on purpose.

* 3

Andre The Giant once drank 156 beers in a single sitting...

True...

According to Tim White, his handler at the time, Andre would regularly do such feats, he also once ate and drank everything on a plane before they had even taken off.

* 4

The Hardcore Title was the old WWF title smashed by Mr. Perfect...

Even WWE aren't sure about this one, or so they say, but the first Hardcore Champ, gave a big hint, with a cheeky Mick Foley wink and smile saying...

“I have no idea, But it makes ‘perfect’ sense.”

* 5

WWE funded ECW...

True...

But is wasn't as philanthropic as it sounds. Vince wanted to get fans to return to WWE during the Monday Night Wars, and decided that a pairing with the Extreme promotion would get fans to give them another look. ECW also profited from a greater national, and international exposure.

* 6

Bret Hart knew all about the Montreal screwjob...

False...

No he didn't, He says he had bad feelings about the night, but he trusted Earl Hebner would not betray him. Vince McMahon said he made what was a ''Purely Business decision''.

* 7

There were two Ultimate Warriors...

False...

This one is gold, fans believed that the ''Real'' Ultimate Warrior died in 1991, and WWE (Then F) brought in a new guy to replace him, hoping fans wouldn't notice.

What really happened was The Ultimate Warrior was fired in a dispute over money at SummerSlam 1991, WWE decided to bring him back at WrestleMania 8 in 1992. He returned with a different haircut and more defined muscles, and also changed his ring gear, but was the same guy, there is and was only one Ultimate Warrior.

* 8

Macho Man gave Hulk Hogan his Mania 9 black eye...

False...

Hulk Hogan was involved in a jet ski accident days before the show, and (he says) he defied Doctors orders to compete at the event.

More on Mark Henry's heat within WWE:

The heat on Mark Henry is coming from the creative department, and it is huge. They made their point on this weeks Raw, having JBL say He "Took his ball and went home" as a direct jab at the big man.

Today's News

Foley talks Curtis Axel:

Hall Of Famer Mick Foley has accused Triple H of making Joe Hennig look weak on his debut under his new name, by slapping him in the face, however he feels the former Michael McGillicutty will have a big future with Paul Heyman at his side...

"For people who ask me if I think this guy has a chance. Not only is he talented and waited his turn and lived through the Michael McGillicutty indignity. I asked him about that and obviously he didn't want to say anything bad about the company, but he said ,'It hurt a little, it stung when you get your name and it's Michael McGillicutty. Short term you can say, 'well why didn't he beat Triple H?' But like I said, me being on the outside looking in, depending how this thing plays out, never underestimate the verbal skills of Paul Heyman or the skills of Michael McGillicutty. As a fan it has me hooked. Even if you're not saying Curtis Axel right now, I believe that Paul is the master. I call him the master gardener. He knows how much water and sunshine to give his project and then they have to grow on their own."

Bobby Eaton:

Has been re-hospitalized with further heart problems, he will not be allowed out until his heart rate is under control, and is functioning at a more normal pace.

He said before the interviewer had asked a single question...

"Honestly, [I'm] instantly offended that you... like for real, in real life, right now immediately offended that you would call me a mediocre athlete," Bully said. "You really should take it back if you want the interview to continue. I will walk out this door if you're going to start off this interview questioning my athletic ability. After all of my success, you're going to question my athletic ability? There's not a damn thing in the wrestling ring I can't do, and I bet you there's not one thing that you can do."

Bully was responding to the producer of the show, Jimmy Stewart (Who is a Jeff Hardy fan) saying to him before the show that Hardy was a phenomenal athlete, but Bully was mediocre, and that the wrong guy was walking around with the belt.

Today's News

The Rock talks his injury:

"About mid-way through the match I had torn my rectus tendon as well as my adductor tendon off my pelvis, and then I found out that I had three wonderful hernia tears, which I had repaired about three and a half weeks ago," said Rock. * Stage 1 - Lumberjack Match

* Stage 2 - Tables Match

* Stage 3 - Ambulance Match.

The Intercontinental Title match will be Wade Barrett vs The Miz vs Fandango.

The planned US and Tag Team Title matches will likely not happen now, as the rematches from Extreme Rules happened on Raw last night.

Punk's return... Or...:

Paul Heyman accepted a match at Payback for his client CM Punk, who was challenged by Chris Jericho. Now this could be legit, as Payback is in CM Punk's home town, but I sense a story line arc for the Summer feud between Brock and Punk here.

Maybe Punk will take offence to Heyman booking matches for him without his consent, leading to tensions which will culminate in SummerSlam.

Bret Hart night:

After Raw went off the air last night, Jerry Lawler entered the ring and introduced Bret Hart, he was joined by the mayor of Calgary, who said May 27 will from now on be ''Bret Hart Day'' in the city.

Bret said he was ''honored'' and ''He could feel his father, Owen and The British Bulldog''. He went on to thank all the wrestlers he faced during his career, especially Mr. Perfect and The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith, he said this night meant more than any title, because it was the people of Calgary that were honouring him.

He became emotional when he thanked his family, (His children).

Other stars then came down down to pay tribute, including Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, Vince McMahon and others.

There was an awkward moment though, Pat Patterson got down on one knee to declare Bret Hart, Canada's greatest wrestler. Bret responded by saying that he ''Always got nervous when he saw Patterson on his knees''. (Patterson is homosexual), leading to Jerry Lawler trying to deflect the joke and move on as quickly as possible. Patterson took it well though.

Bret's Brother Smith Hart wasn't as impressed, he tweeted...

"Not concerned about my family not being apart of the celebration tonight but I do think they're are a few people who really should've been... Notably Jim Neidhart, Jimmy Hart, Roddy Piper, Mayor Nechi, Edge, Steve Austin and even the Undertaker"

He also took a shot at WWE, for having his niece Natalya lose on what was her 31st Birthday and in front of her home crowd.

"Should be upset that Natalya had to lose on her birthday in her hometown, but Im actually happy she got to work and show how talented she is"

Today's News

Matt Striker talks career change:

He has discussed his transition from the ring to the announce desk...

"One night, Bruce Pritchard told me that I'd be needed the next day in Atlanta. This was strange because Bruce never really talked to me. I was a new guy and Bruce had been contributing to the business for years. I'd always known who he was and liked his work so it was kind of cool to me. I went to Atlanta and was told that I'd be tried out as a commentator. I'd been doing this for years… since I was seven. I had my own imaginary federation that my G.I. Joe and AWA wrestling figures competed within. I did commentary into a tape recorder- my mother still has the tapes. So that's what I did. Turns out it was Joey Styles' idea and Joey had the foresight, courage and belief to bring it up in a meeting once a need opened up on ECW. Now, in all honesty, it was probably agreed upon just to move on to the next, bigger problem that needed attention, but either way - I was in."

A royal return:

Jerry Lawler scored the winning fall in his return to the ring last night.

He tweeted after the match...

Hardcore Holly talks his new book:

"It never occurred to me that it was a bad idea. The only thing that occurred to me, the whole 18 months it took to write this, is nobody's gonna want to read my book; nobody's gonna want it. I mean, I was just a midcard guy, you know, and it was like 'Who is going to want to read my story? I mean, there's nothing exciting about me.' So, that's what ran through my mind, and then after we edited it over and over because we'd send it back to ECW Press and then they'd send it back and we'd have to edit and do this and do that to it and after reading it many times over; every time we read it over, it was still interesting. So that's when it occurred to me, 'Hey, maybe people will find this interesting.' Because, every time a read a chapter, it still captivated me and it still does; when I pick up my book and see what somebody had read and they talk about it and I go back and look at it, I end up reading the whole chapter again. And that's what made me think that maybe people will want to buy this and read it. So, it was a lot of work too, but it was fun and it had its times where it reminded me of certain bad times and stuff like that. But, it was a good experience, it really was."

WWE suffer court setback:

In the case of WWE vs Papa, who is suing WWE over the use of the song Badstreet USA in the Legends Of WrestleMania video game.

According to Papa, he registered the song for licensing in 1983 and retained all rights. Papa had checked to see if the song was properly registered to him and his companies after video game publisher THQ contacted him about using the song in the video game. He discovered that the song was "improperly and erroneously re-registered" by WWE and given a new registration number, which resulted in WWE receiving royalties for the song, which has been used in DVDs, matches on WWE television and as ring tones on cell phones.

U.S. District Judge Jane J. Boyle wrote in denying the motion...

"The court does not doubt Papa's claim that he did not discover WWE's alleged tortious acts until late 2010, less than three years prior to the filing of the complaint, Nevertheless, the complaint, while alleging that defendants' registration was improper, admits on its face that all of the protected works were re-registered under the name of Michael Seitz or James Alan Johnston as songwriters and composers with Stephanie Music as publisher."

The case against WWE has been allowed to continue, however his personal suits against Michael Hayes and Jim Johnston were thrown out.
