WWE have put their roster on notice to be at their very best this Sunday. This comes in the wake of the NXT Takeover special. The NXT show was so well received that WWE officials are now concerned they may struggle to live up to it with this Sunday's main roster special, Payback. They have promised Payback will be a really good show, and have told all talent involved in the special to raise their games.
Payback:
Final Card...
Cesaro vs. Sheamus (C) (WWE United States Title)
Rob Van Dam vs. Bad News Barrett (C) (WWE Intercontinental Title)
Alicia Fox vs. Paige (C) (WWE Divas Title)
The Shield vs. Evolution
Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena
Rusev vs. Big E
El Torito vs. Hornswoggle (Pre Show)
Ric Flair says he will be in attendance.
WWE Top 10:
Last Man Standing matches.
Ric Flair:
One potential stumbling block has arisen in the WWE return of Ric Flair. WWE do not allow their talent to use blood thinners, something Flair has needed recently due to the blood clot in his leg. Flair has declared himself fit, but has delayed his WWE medical a couple of times, and has still not been assessed by the WWE docs.
Retirement:
El Dandy had his last match earlier this month. He was best known for his time with WCW.
New team:
NXT stars Aiden English and Simon Gotch will be known as the Vaudevillains.
WWE snub indy great:
WWE decided not to sign indy star Ricochet because he was popular with the NXT roster, before he had his tryout. When he arrived at the PC for his trial, many of the developmental stars treated him like he was a big deal, and were very excited at the idea of working with him. This apparently put some noses out of place with the officials, and despite being very impressive both in the ring and on the mic, made the decision to turn him away. The official reason was they had a lot of small guys, and high flyers, and did not need or want any more, however an insider has now said WWE were not happy with his special reception from the roster, as they thought of him as just another guy coming for a try out for a developmental deal.
Jamie Noble tried, but ultimately failed to change their minds.
Cesaro:
WWE nixed a planned feud and IC Title run for Cesaro earlier this month. They decided it would ''Hurt'' him to go against Wade Barrett, and to hold the IC gold, so put him with Sheamus for the US Title instead.
Jim Ross talks his wrestling future:
"I'm not looking to do anymore pro wrestling broadcasting, but if the right opportunity arises then I will listen. I'm not soliciting companies but I will always keep my ears open. It would be stupid for me to say it's over. I have my Podcast that is doing a lot of great things and I'm writing for FOX. So I'm staying busy but again I'm a wrestling fan, but as an entrepreneur. I am willing to try MMA or football if it's the right opportunity.''
Wade Barrett talks the lack of ''Reality'' on Total Diva's:
"I think for the most part it's genuine characters and genuine personalities. As with any TV show their aim is to make it entertaining. So, certain scenarios might be set up where they're put into a very strict environment and seeing how they respond. It's not like they have lines like a movie… it's a lot of improv."
TNA stars on TV:
Robbie E. and Brooke Tessmacher have landed a spot on ''The Amazing Race''. The show started taping in New York this morning and will see them, and their rivals travel the world, competing in various challenges along the way. The CBS show is in it's 25th series.
Top guys coming to WWE:
Three top names from the indy's and internationally will begin their WWE careers in August. Kenta, Prince Devitt, and Kevin Steen will join up with WWE, following their medical, drugs tests, and potential visa issues for the Japanese, are sorted out.
The fiance of David Otunga, singer and actress Jennifer Hudson, is reportedly very upset with his decision to return to WWE full time. She wants him to continue with his legal advice on TV shows. A friend of the singer told Star in the US... "Jen knows that it is his passion, but she doesn't want him away from home for long periods of time, and there's always a chance he could get hurt. Jen keeps trying to steer him away from what he really wants to do...[But] he feels that since she's living her dream, he should be able to live his."
Cost of WWE financial crash:
Brace yourself... Forbes Magazine have reported that WWE have lost $750 Million in just 2 months, more than double even the worst estimates by the promotion themselves. This includes a loss of $350 Million on a single day, after the TV deals were announced.
Another magazine has blamed the lack of movement in WWE, they cite the creation of stars people like and support, only to be dropped back into the mid card mire after a short time, naming the likes of Zack Ryder, Ryback, and Damien Sandow, and the promotion's decision to keep the same guys at the top, for (They say) too long, naming John Cena.
Kamala:
Kamala is almost finished writing his autobiography. If he has made some of the accusations he teased when announcing he was working on a book, it could be a very interesting read.
WWE / TNA star ends retirement:
Shannon Moore has started taking bookings again.
NXT Takeover results:
Bayley bt Sasha Banks in the pre show.
Adam Rose bt Camacho.
Konnor & Viktor bt El Local (Ricardo Rodriguez) & Kalisto.

Jeff Jarrett talks TNA departure, launching GFW:
"At the very end, I knew it was time to move on. I'm very grateful and thankful. The TNA fanbase over the years - very loyal and passionate. I can't say enough about my TNA years, but I knew in 2014 it was time for something new. With Global Force, the vision I have for it is - you know, people love professional wrestling. Some people call it a "dirty word," some people call it sports entertainment. It's all one and the same. I believe in 2014 professional wrestling, it's time to evolve. As the weeks and months get there, I'm gonna be very excited to share that vision. At this time, I'm keeping it very close to the vest. The journey videos that we're posting on GlobalForceWrestling.com and all through social media, I want to literally immerse the fanbase from day one. Yes, I've talked to a lot of wrestlers but there's not one wrestler signed yet. We're really close on making some talent announcements, but we're in negotiations on every level. With the way technology is today - can I share everything? I don't think that'd be very smart or prudent business, but I can share as much as I can for the wrestling press, as well as the Hollywood Reporters of the world and Variety. I've had people reach out to me in New York and LA that are in the television business, but they're mesmerized with the amount of information that we are sharing, bringing the fans along literally step by step in this journey, because they're a part of the journey."
Injury:
Adrian Neville lost four teeth in a match vs Brodus Clay last month.
TV presenter Michelle Beadle has spoken about the backstage altercation with AJ Lee and CM Punk at Tribute To The Troops... "I show up at Tribute to the Troops, I see him in the hallway, I say 'what up, f--kface', which is my very loving way of referring to my friends. I don't call my friends... I just... I'm an idiot. I call them all kinds of names, that's how you know I like you. He was alone in a hallway, he didn't really say anything. I was with P.R. from WWE and my assistant and we walked by. The next thing I know, she's in my face yelling at me and I honestly, I swear to you, thought it was a joke."
She also says the incident ruined her friendship with CM... "Phil and I stopped being friends that day and I wish him the best of luck and that's it," said Beadle. "It's a bummer because I always respected him. I thought he was one of those cool guys that kind of didn't fall into a certain role and kind of did what he wanted but to watch all that happen and to have somebody tattle on me and have their girlfriend get in my face is a little pathetic. But it's okay, I've moved on."
She later added that she was not surprised he quit WWE, but hopes he comes back, because as a fan of the sport, she misses him.

It seems Christian is in the last year of his career. WWE are phasing him out as a character this year, as was planned before his injury spells of recent months. The roster are pushing for him to be retained as a trainer or producer after his active deal ends.
New gimmick and push for Tyson Kidd:
WWE's admiration for Tyson Kidd is about to pay off. He will be given a new look, that of a masked luchadore, and a push to go with it. The change is because WWE feel he has spent so long as an enhancement star that he would not be taken seriously as a top guy under the Tyson Kidd name. Tyson has already commissioned a mask.

The Undertaker is still banged up from his WrestleMania match. Some within WWE have criticised the streak ending, one insider saying Vince had made his mind up well before Mania, and the decision is still very unpopular, it is widely seen as the wrong call to have had Taker lose.
Vince Russo slams WWE:
Vince Russo has ranted at WWE. He feels John Cena using the word ''Bitch'' is a blatant contradiction of their PG ethos. His post was long winded, so I won't post it, but the gist of his argument is, they can't be all things to all men, by trying to be PG for the female and young fans, and going harder to keep male fans engaged, as they did with great success during the attitude era.

Goldberg interview:
On the death of WCW... "There's nobody you can point to single-handedly. First of all, it's hard for me to give an educated opinion because I was injured during that period of time and I was away from the normal day goings on of WCW. Now, when AOL and Time Warner merged, it was ultimately the demise of WCW as we know it I believe. I don't think it was something that they were heavily behind as far as programming is concerned by any stretch of the imagination and from what I remember, Ted Turner was on safari when the decision was made by the board to get rid of WCW. I think it starts at the top and when everybody feels that something is going awry, anxiety is at such a level that everybody just falls apart. It was a law-less society once it started going downhill and at that time, who was wanting to put forth the effort to save it? Obviously there were a lot of die-hards that wanted it saved and a lot of wresters that wanted it saved, I don't know anybody that didn't want it saved and to see it succeed except maybe the competition and the people who owned it. There was a lot of passion for it."
On Hall Of Fame induction... "To get any type of accolade like that when you're in a given sport or profession is the ultimate honor. But again, like I said about me stepping back in the ring, it's not something that I long for every morning. Would I deem my wrestling career a failure if I didn't join it? No. It would be a hell of an honor for sure. There are people there that deserve it and there are people there that don't deserve it and I'm not anyone to say that I deserve it by any stretch of the imagination. It would be an honor for sure because there are a lot of legends there and it is a sport that put my name at the forefront and I owe it a lot of credit for me being able to talk to you right now and have my own podcast and be a television actor. Yes it would be an honor but I wouldn't feel incomplete if it didn't happen at the end of the day."
On one more match... ''I would definitely listen to that type of conversation but it's not something I wake up every morning and I pray to God to and hope that I can lace up my boots one more time because I have to end on a nostalgic note. If the opportunity arose and it was a favorable condition for everybody involved, and I mean working condition, not necessarily the money, and opponent, I would definitely cater the thought.''

Here is a taste of the article...

Buff Bagwell talks WWE release:
"I still don't know. But I can tell you the whole story of how I got fired. I walked into a room with Vince, Jim Ross and Johnny Ace and it took me five minutes to realize I was getting fired. I raised my hand and I said 'Are y'all firing me?' And Vince says, 'no Marc, we're not firing, you we're releasing you.' So I asked what the difference was and of course they had an answer for that too. He goes 'Well, if we release you we don't have to redo your contract when we bring you back in three months. If we fire you, we have to redo your contract'. So I told myself that I had to start shaking hands and smiling because it was over, so that's what I did. Trying not to cry, I grabbed my bags."

Zack Ryder:
Zack Ryder is playing the bunny in Adam Rose's group, although he denies it, this looks like it is leading somewhere further down the road.
"It's different. My last day at TNA, I said this to a few people, I didn't feel like I was leaving TNA because I didn't feel like I recognized the company. There was still people I'll miss but it didn't feel like I was leaving TNA. Honestly, there was a couple of red flags, and this was even preceding when I was starting to make up my mind about my current situation, AJ Styles leaving obviously, because I'm very close to AJ and knowing what he was going through and talking to him, that was huge. I was like wait a minute. I say this as his friend and I say this selfishly, I don't understand why they didn't do whatever it took to keep him there. And I'm not just saying that because he's a friend. I'm saying that because he's a franchise guy. He's one of the best in the world. He's a good human being. He's a guy you can continue to build the company around. He leaves and real soon thereafter Jeff Jarrett leaves so that was a big red flag being waved. Wait a minute … things are changing. I don't know that they're changing for the better. It could just be me. Internally, management, complete turnover, people on the creative team, people in management. It really is just different."
Daniel Bryan:
A possible return date for Daniel Bryan has emerged. Madison Square Garden are advertising a WrestleMania rematch between himself and Triple H for a show on July 12, AND, if they are correct, he will still be WWE Champion on the date, they say Bryan will defend his WWE Championship in the match.
It will be a very different Daniel Bryan though. WWE are set to tell him to change his ring style to maintain his career, missile dropkicks, the Benoit style diving headbutt, and the tope's will be removed from his repertoire. WWE have asked him in the past to stop the tope's, as he rarely lands them well, and regularly hurts himself. Doctor's have warned of serious long term problems, and a shorter career, if he does not make changes to his style, to protect his neck.
Others with similar problems in the past include Chris Benoit, who had been asked to stop using the headbutt after a neck problem of his own, but apparently told them that he would retire if they stopped him using the move. Harley Race however has joined the calls to stop the use of the move, he says it is a brutal move, due to the unnatural way you land.

That's been evident whether it has been Dixie [Carter] or Stephanie McMahon or whoever, I think it's cool when people from both companies talk to each other. We're all friends anyway. People jump back and forth all the time. WWE is something I watched and fell in love with since I was a kid. So of course that's somewhere I want to be and learn from the best and spread my wings. As long as I've been in the business, I'm only 28. I feel like there is definitely a future in WWE."

There are several possible idea's for Ric Flair's role upon his WWE return...

He will back in the States next week.

Raw was heavily edited, some matches were shortened, but the main victim was Stephanie McMahon's segment, probably because of a long and loud CM Punk chant that drowned her out for a lot of her promo.

The incident happened at an In Your House show where Double J was booked to drop the IC title to Chyna, the match came after his WWE contract expired, and WWE were resigned to losing him, however they agreed a one night financial package with the wrestler, a very generous one, according to Jim Ross, for him to appear to drop the IC belt before leaving. When Jeff got to the show he refused to work the match unless they paid him more money. JR says he learned a lot from the experience, and would never let it happen again. He would just strip the departing talent of the belt.
Bob Holly blasts WWE Hall Of Fame:
"They try to make that Hall of Fame legitimate. But if you notice, to me it's politically driven. A dead giveaway is Hunter wanting all of his little buddies, his little circle first. He's taken care of all them. But the thing is, how can you put Lita in the Hall of Fame? Not saying she doesn't deserve to be there, but how can you put her in there before Chyna? Chyna is the first and only female Intercontinental champion and that's what drives me nuts because their trying to make this a legitimate hall of fame and it's obvious they pick and choose who they want in there. If this was pro football or basketball or anything else, Chyna would be in there."
The interviewer then mentioned her porn career, and drugs and alcohol abuse, to which he replied...
''You look at all the guys who had drug and alcohol problems and they get inducted, come on. She's done porn so what, who cares? The thing is, she gave a lot to the business and she was a big deal. I'm not defending anybody as to what they choose outside of the wrestling world, but what she gave to the wrestling world was really big."
