Today's News

Deceased wrestlers had CTE:

Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney were both suffering from CTE before their deaths earlier this year. Their families are among the wrestlers taking WWE to court.

Why I retired:

Richie Steamboat has discussed why he felt he had to quit WWE and retire from wrestling...

"The back injury couldn't have happened at a worse time in my career. It was really getting to the point where things were taking off, all the hard work I had done for so many years was paying off. I was having a feud with Kassius Ohno on NXT, and I injured my back doing a moonsault. I landed wrong and I lost feeling in everything from my chin down. I could still move everything, but I couldn't feel anything. Over the next few days, feeling started to come back to me, and I wrestled through it. I worked several more weeks and really kind of kept my mouth shut about it because I was given this position and I wanted to make the most of it, I didn't want to give up that opportunity, and it got to the point where my son at the time was like two or three and I couldn't even pick him up. I sat down and talked to the WWE doctors to discuss things with then and I flew up to Pittsburgh to see some specialists. The best idea for my career and my future would be to kind of put the breaks on for a little bit and get some things fixed in my back."

He went on to say he still has the itch to return and that he is leaving the door open to a comeback.

Corgan vs TNA:

Billy Corgan's lawsuit against TNA says the current owners have rendered the company insolvent and that he should have the controlling vote in it's future.

He was granted an order stating that TNA cannot enter into any business negotiations without his approval, including over the tape library to WWE, but the judge put all takeover bids on hold and banned all stake-holders, including Corgan, from selling their shares until a decision on his writ is made.

Cody Rhodes talks Stardust reference:

Cody Rhodes has discussed the sneaky reference to his WWE gimmick on 'Arrow' this week...

"I believe it was Marc Guggenheim. Actually, I think everybody agreed that there would be some sort of a wink to the audience who enjoyed the initial interaction with Stardust and the Arrow at WWE's SummerSlam. It concerned me a little bit because there are tons of Arrow fans who do not like wrestling, or maybe they're not aware of it and they don't intend to be aware of it. So, the last thing I wanted to do was make it so obvious that it was, "Here's the dumb wrestler who gives a dumb wrestler performance. Bye dumb wrestler!" But when I saw it all together, it's just simply a good wink at the audience and, in a way, it bridges the experience from the wrestling that Stephen and I did to being on set. When I did the character of Stardust, for me to play the character, I had to give myself something in my mind for why, in eight years of being Cody Rhodesand myself, I would want to be Stardust. I always thought of it as some sort of drug or brainwashing, so it's perfect. I think it bridges the experiences."

Becky Lynch has been cleared to return a week earlier than expected and is scheduled for SmackDown next week.
