Today's News

Just a little something to show some respect, to the city that blends and mends and tests. Since 9/11 we're still livin', and lovin' life we've been given, ain't nothing gonna take that away from us, were lookin' pretty and gritty 'cause in the city we trust. Dear New York I know a lot has changed, 2 towers down but you're still in the game, home to many rejecting no-one, accepting peoples of all places, wherever they're from.

Never Forget 9/11... 15 years on... RIP.

CM Punk:

CM Punk was beaten comprehensively in his MMA debut. Losing in just over two minutes to Mickey Gall. He however promises he will fight again.

Punk was badly beaten around the head and face, and suffered a badly damaged ear.

UFC announcer Joe Rogan has advised him to give it up, or do it as a hobby, adding he was doomed to fail from day dot...

"I admire CM Punk for taking the chance, I really do," Rogan said. "But, it was delusional. That's my feeling, it was my feeling watching him hit the bag, when I was watching him punch things. It's not like he can't ever learn, Visit Wrestling Inc.but there's a journey as a martial artist. There's a path that each martial artist is on and different people are on different paths. There's a reason why brown belts don't compete with white belts in jiu-jitsu tournaments. It's not fair, and what we saw tonight was not fair. Mickey Gall's way better, he's really good. This is what happens when you take a guy who's an elite young kid and you have him fight a celebrity who wants to challenge himself, it's not the way to do it... If I had to give CM Punk advice, I'd say, fight as an amateur, fight people at your level. I mean, he wants to do this, he wants to continue, God bless him, he's a fun guy, I like him. But this is not the way to do it."

Worryingly for Punk his boss later agreed that he was not ready for the Octagon.

A number of wrestlers attended, including Luke Harper, Tyson Kidd, Evan Bourne, John Morrison, Domino and AJ Lee. A number of other stars weighed in, some congratulating him for giving it a go, others less complimentary.

Backlash:

WWE will host their first branded PPV since the split tonight. SmackDown will have the honour. The new blue Women's and Tag belts will be won for the first time.

WWE Tribute:

Daniel Bryan led a number of SmackDown stars to the site of the 9/11 New York attack today, to visit the museum.

Match pulled:

WWE have not cleared Randy Orton from his SummerSlam injuries, and he will not be competing against Bray Wyatt tonight. They hoped to have him medically released this week.
