Today's News

TNA sale:

WWE are not actively bidding for TNA but are still ready to make a move. They are said to be sitting back comfortably watching as things play out, and would be happy for TNA to be able to put on their PPV at the weekend if they can raise the funds. They will wait until the last minute, and until all other options have walked away from the table, before going back in to snatch up the promotions assets.

Rostered stars are making mixed statements on the future of the promotion, some adamantly standing by the league having a future, and confirming the event on Sunday will go ahead, others less confident in their responses. Some top stars are even talking about the likelihood of a WWE return, Matt Hardy was openly critical of Dixie Carter, and said the roster are fully behind Billy Corgan, then posted a gif of his having a premonition of his whereabouts for next Monday, and Bobby Lashley says he would need to talk things out with them before he went back, as he did not want to work their schedule. Gail Kim said things were scary, but change often is, and she was excited for the future.

Dixie Carter has told fans who hope to buy tickets for this and next weeks shows that they are not to be missed, but did not go as far as saying they would definitely happen.

They taped what might be their last TV episodes last night.

Hardy threatened:

Eric Bischoff has taken offence to Matt Hardy criticising him and Hulk Hogan during a recent shoot. He has already gotten the video taken down from RF, and is now looking into taking action against Matt personally too. Here is what Matt said...

"For many, many years the people at Impact Wrestling lost their identity. There was a point where they had this X Division and it was truly luxurious when they were highlighting it. But as time has gone on, they lost their way. When Brother Nero Hogan and Brother Nero Bischoff, all they did was rape, pillage and plunder TNA. They almost broke Impact Wrestling down forever.''

The sisters talked about what can be expected for the season, with Brie revealing she wanted to cancel the show in the wake of Daniel Bryan's retirement, as he was in such a bad place, mentally, but Daniel refused. She went on to say that as his depression consumed him his decline during the show is visible. She then said she did not want to retire herself, but her hunger to become a mother outweighs her career ambitions, and then Nikki revealed a huge fight that she had with Daniel Bryan when Brie retired, as she felt he was only interested in his own retirement, and was not supporting her twin through hers. All of this and more will be on their new reality show.

Attempted murder of WWE Alum / employee:

Jamie Noble has been stabbed twice, and is in hospital. He was followed home by three men in a car, who claimed he had cut them off. The driver became physically aggressive during the confrontation, and Noble took him to the ground. At this point one of the passengers joined the fray and stabbed the WWE man in the upper back and centre spine, before fleeing, leaving him bleeding outside his home. Jamie was rushed to hospital in a critical state.

Today's News

TNA dead before this week is out?:

Billy Corgan is getting fed up with the stall from TNA over his takeover, and the ''Mess'' Dixie Carter is making of the situation. He says the company has had a ''For sale'' sign up for it's entire existence, but when it comes to be bought, for reasons known only to Carter, she is dragging her feet. He went on to warn TNA fans that the promotion is facing a major transformation before this week is over, and acknowledged for the first time that that very well could mean that the brand could come to an end this weekend, although he hopes it will be the start of a new era, under his management.

He says he feels, and worries about the futures of all the employees of the company, and is desperate to sort things out for them, but things must come to a head in the next 24-72 hours, one way or the other.

There is serious talk that if the deal is not done by tomorrow, the company would have to pull Bound For Glory from the weekend, and next weeks TV's, meaning they would be in breach of their contract with Pop, and could cost them their TV deal, that would be a deal breaker, and would almost certainly be the final nail in the coffin for the promotion.

Corgan did offer something for fans to hold on too, he said he has had to save the last three TV's at the last minute, due to financial issues, and is not surprised that things have come so close to the wire, and that he will work until the absolute last possible minute to tie things up, but could not confirm that the planned events for the next week would happen He says he, if no-one else, would be in Orlando on Sunday, possibly to make a statement to the fans about whether the event, and the promotion would go on, or to offically announce the doors are closed. He has also said today that he could not compete with WWE, if they were serious about buying the group.

In a less than positive note though, an un-named veteran of TNA has confirmed that he, and others, have been contacted to inform them their flights to BFG and next weeks events have been cancelled, and that funds for the PPV are not in place, just 48 hours from it happening.

In a final note, WWE may be pulling out again. They have been informed that they would take on the debt of the company if they bought it, and they are not going to be keeping the brand going to earn the losses back, they only want the tapes and some talent, so, another option may soon be taken away.

Dusty classic:

The second Dusty Rhodes tag tourney will have 16 teams in it, and will culminate at Takeover-Toronto, on the night before Survivor Series. Kota Ibushi is returning to WWE for the competition, he will team with Hideo 'Kenta' Itami.

Hardyz talk WWE returns:

Jeff...

"All the WWE stuff really depends on what happens between now and February with TNA. I just went out to Nashville and recorded six songs, and we're about to open a store that sells original art work, which is going to be huge. If it feels right and good, I don't see anything wrong with staying. When you commit to a WWE contract, you're committing to some serious time away from home. If it were under my terms, there might be a chance, but I'm really not sure. Of course it would be nice, but what we're doing right now is so much fun. I don't want to go back to WWE and burn out within four or five months, and having another run as TNA world champion would feel just as good."

Matt...

"I am very content at Impact Wrestling. I don't know if I trust that Meekmahan, or if he'll try to stifle my broken brilliance. I'm able to live in my broken universe here at Impact Wrestling to the fullest extent, and Impact Wrestling needs me as their savior, so I'll do everything I can to help them grow. They've had many setbacks in the last few years, but things are changing. I don't have an end game. Being a celestial being, I live for the moment to fight the Great War, and that is to light the darkness. Right now, I'm able to do that at Impact Wrestling.''

Bellator confirm interest:

Bellator have confirmed they have reached out, with interest in signing Ryback.

RVD talks heat from namesake:

Rob Van Dam says he recently found out actor Jean Claude Van Damme does not like him...

"When he came in my manager went up to his entourage because he was walking through and he said, hey you know, could we get a picture of him and Rob for the web site or something? He said, oh he doesn't have time. Alright. Whatever. So I was like, we tried, whatever. While I'm walking around I saw up onstage he was answering questions to a crowd in the auditorium and at the same time taking pictures with a line of fans one at a time. And so I said, well sure I'll just get in line and get a picture, that'd be cool. And I get in line and all the fans got excited and they're like, oh oh oh, and so they pushed me right up to the front of the line so that I'm next. I'm standing onstage and Jean-Claude was talking, answering a question, and when he saw me he totally lost his train of thought and he was just like, 'I was very lucky to have a father who…' and he just saw me and if looks could kill. He said something to his handler and they guy goes, OK no more pictures, this was the last one. And they're like, no, no, one more, and he's saying, no more. And then he's trying to answer the question, he's trying to talk and they started going, 'RVD! RVD!' which was rattling him and they guy came over and he dispersed the line."

Cody makes promise:

Cody Rhodes says he will not play around with his surname, to try to get around the WWE ban on him using it. He says everyone knows how it is spelt, and he would not demean what the name means for the sake of a two finger salute to WWE.

KO talks naming son after Owen Hart:

''When I was younger, I could always tell that Owen was having a blast in the ring and that stuck with me. After Owen passed away, every single person I spoke to would talk about how great of a guy he was and how he would go out of his way to make people happy. That is how I would want his son to be, and I asked my wife to name our son Owen when she was pregnant, which she agreed to right away.''

He went on to say Bret Hart appreciated it, when they shared the story with him.

Where Are They Now?:

Ted DiBiase Jr is the second featured star on the new WWE Network show...

WWE, who have been watching the situation, obviously feel things are not going to be sorted in time, as they have re-entered their bid for the promotion. Dixie Carter is the problem owner for Corgan, she is telling people she can sell to whomever she likes, and has been having meetings over the past 5 days with WWE, who have told her that their bid is for the tape library, and a select number of talent contracts, and confirmed to her that they will not continue to run the brand, and the TNA name would cease to be, if she sold to them. This time referring to an NFL star refusing to stand for the national anthem of America before games...

"So here's my thing. The issues he's kneeling for, I respect that he is kneeling for those issues. I just disagree with his way of showing that it's an issue to him. You hear a lot of people say 'he sat the bench, he's looking for attention', whether that's true or not. Listen he's got a voice he's in the public eye, that's what all those social media followers are for," Orton said. "I want to hear what the man has to say. And in the recent weeks he's talked about what his issue was, and again I respect those issues man this world is a scary place. People are dying. There's a lot of issues and everyone needs to unite together, as hard as that may seem Book, and talk about the issues. Rene talks CM Punk's WWE debut:

Rene Dupree says of WWE's actions when CM Punk signed...

"Yeah. They would do chants, and then it's like a ripple effect. They hear chants, chants, chants and then try and get the people up. CM Punk or ECW shirts, I'd see like three or four guys scattered around the arena. And I was like 'wow', but I guess if you really want to get somebody over."

He also talked about his theory on the Benoit tragedy...

"Well I like to talk about one thing that nobody talks about. There was another body found that day, another wrestler died that day that nobody talks about and he was kin to Chris. His name was um, Biff Wellington. Stampede Wrestling, that was Chris Benoit's former tag team partner. And they did tours together in Japan, and he was found the same day that Chris was found dead. He was found dead in Alberta. Now we all know that there was text messages between different wrestlers and Chris, right? To the office, Chavo Guerrero. I would like to know if there was any communication between Biff Wellington and Chris, that's what I'd like to know. Cause that's an eery coincidence to me."

''Vince thinks, 'We'll just bring Hulk Hogan back to make millions of more dollars.' To me, I know Hogan won this lawsuit against that website. Even if he gets a tenth of it, I would curl up in Florida and just say goodbye and live my life. I mean, he's in his early 60s, but I guess it's hard for him because he's so used to being in the limelight, and the opportunity would be enticing. But I'd like to see him just venture off into the next phase in his life and say, 'Hey. This was this, and now I'm going to relax for the rest of my life.'"

That was the booked final, with the decision of winner made on the night, however, the refusal to sign permanent deals with WWE meant a change to the plans and both guys lost in the semi-finals. Ziggler inducted:

Dolph Ziggler was inducted into the Kent State HOF this week.

WWE chase top TNA star:

Triple H is personally sending out feelers to Matt Hardy, hoping to convince their Alum to return to WWE at the end of his current deal. Hardy fans should not be too excited by this, as Matt has total creative control over his TNA angles and career, and is making very good money, and controls his own schedule on the indies. He last worked for the company in 2010, and left under a cloud, after a big fall out with the office. WWE may have their work cut out to get their old guy back.

Where Are They Now?:

Vladimir Kozlov is the first guest of the new Where Are They Now? Network show.

Jericho talks Lesnar fight:

"Well, anytime something like that happens, there's always a lot of rumors and a lot of stories being told and that sort of thing. But, I mean, not to get into specifics, between me and Brock, but we did have a little bit of a brouhaha, shall we say. And I think that happens when you get guys that are in a sport such as ours. It's half entertainment and half real and half not. And I think you get he had just come out of the ring. I had just come out of the ring an hour before, so whatever. And I just thought the finish of that match was very brutal and very violent and I just didn't know if Randy was okay. And I was just checking on my friend. We have always been pretty close. And I said something. He said something. The next thing you know, we're nose to nose, kind of yelling at each other. It diffused pretty quickly, but, I mean, listen, let's make no bones about this. Brock is a trained fighter and he's a beast, but I'm not the type of person to back down from anybody, to my detriment or harmful to my existence even. But hotheads fire off, we were in each other's face, and that happens sometimes. I guess I kind of have a reputation for it too. I've never backed down. And I think in the case sometimes of guys his size, they think that most people will wilt and most people do, but that's not me. That's not my background. That's not what I came up from, coming up from Winnipeg [Manitoba], and my dad's lineage of being in the NHL, and it's just not what I do, so, like I said, I'm glad he didn't eat me. Basically, there was a face to face altercation. And, like I said, I'll leave the rest between the two of us."

He also reacted to heat for his actions...

"Afterwards, yeah, but it doesn't make me a mark to go check on my friend. I wasn't saying, 'what the hell is going on with this finish?' I just was saying, 'is Randy okay?' That's what I did. And first of all, in 26 years of being in the business, I can do whatever the f--k I want. I'm not a mark. Second would be, I was just seeing how my friend was. Listen, whatever the finish is is not my business. Whatever they're doing or whatever happens. Listen, man, that's the way it is. It's not my business. It's not my responsibility or my call. But, when I see a friend of mine laying in a pool of his own blood, whether it's a work or not, that's real blood. That's a real concussion that he suffered. So I want to go check to see if he's okay because we've had a 15-year history and we've gotten into fights ourselves. That's one of the guys I've been in the trenches with and will continue to be in the trenches with till the day one of us stops doing this. But I don't think there's ever anything wrong with checking on your friend whether it's a work or not. If that makes me a mark, well, I guess I'm a mark for making sure my friends are okay."

    Bret talks Rollins:

Bret Hart says he has been so hard on Seth Rollins because he wants him to be the best, and is sad he is falling short...

"Actually, I'm a big fan of Seth Rollins. I mean, it sounds like I've been a little hard on him the last few months, but I'm trying to make a point to make him a better wrestler, to live up to what I expect out of him. And we're in this business. It's not about hurting people, and, too often, people misunderstand my point, and, maybe, including him. Now, he thinks I've got a hard on for him, or I'm out to get him, or out to make him sound bad. I'm not. I love his wrestling and I like him as a person. He's always a respectful guy and I know he's trying his hardest. I hope Seth Rollins becomes the safest, best wrestler in the world. And I wish him all the luck in the world. And I'm not trying to pick on him. I'm just trying to remind him that it's not about hurting guys. That doesn't make you a good wrestler. It makes you a really lousy wrestler."

He went on to compare him to Goldberg on the night he ended his career and acknowledged hearing the Seth podcast where he talked about Bret's negative view of him, before talking about another issue he has with Rollins...

"That move that Seth Rollins did where he hurt that Finn Bálor. Well, if you just think about it logically, 'okay, I'm going to pick somebody up, and I'm going to go through their legs under the ropes, and then, I'm going to do like Razor Ramon and I'm going to just grab you and do the Razor's Edge. It's basically the move. And if you just think about it, 'okay, I'm going to pick you up, and then I'm going to run full blast, as hard as I can, just hurl your body against that padded wall. And if you watch it, it's, like, as soon as I saw it, I thought that if somebody had done that to me, I would have been pretty mad."

    WWE buying TNA:

There are two active bidders for ownership of TNA. One of those is Billy Corgan, the other is not official, but is not the owners of ROH. It is also not WWE, however, they are monitoring the situation, and have made the offer of buying the promotion if other bidders pull out, but only for their tape library, they would not run the promotion as a going concern, despite magazine Forbes doing a diagnostic breakdown this week of what WWE could do with TNA, should they acquire the rights. It should be noted that the amount WWE have offered for the promotion is already less than Billy Corgan has put into his own bid, for only 30% of the rights. Corgan though has set a deadline of October 2 to complete the buy out of the other three shareholders, and is said to be prepared to walk away if he has not been given control by that date.

TNA are yet again facing testing times, and their future is very much in doubt right now.
