Active WWE star's career over?:
WWE feel Layla will never be able to return to in ring competition. There is not still no conformation as to what the issue is, but it seems it is serious enough to end the Brit's career. WWE did not clarify how this news will affect her future with the promotion. They could keep her on as a valet or she could join the announce / presentation team, or they may keep her off TV until her deal ends, and quietly release her.
Chris Benoit:
I am not sure WWE know what they are doing with Chris Benoit. They have again released a statement to ''Clarify'' his appearances on their Network. He will appear, with a disclaimer, before events he is in, although not directly acknowledging him, or his family. They now say he will not appear in any compilation footage... Erm... WWE... He did, and quite recently. In a video package of Randy Orton's title wins before the unification match.
Personal note...
I know the Benoit situation is extremely tricky and awkward for WWE, and no matter what they do, they will upset someone, but I think they are making this harder for themselves than needs be. They need to make a simple and decisive choice, either include him, and take the heat for it, or cut him out altogether, and probably take heat for that too. Constantly releasing disclaimers trying to justify their choice is not going to appease Benoit haters, and will only cause upset to people that are happy Benoit is being featured.
They should have made the decision, released one statement, to the effect of... PPV events will be shown in their entirety, however this does not change the WWE's stance on former employee Chris Benoit... and then re-release the press statement they made at the time, and then move forward IMO.
Valentine's Day massacre:
WWE have given NBC until February 14 to make an acceptable offer to air their TV shows or they are going to cut ties with them and start to listen to other offers, from other networks. WWE appreciate the relationship they have with NBC, but have been talking to others, wanting a large increase in financial revenues for the programming, and if they are not going to get that from their current hosts, they say they will make the best for business decision to move on.
A potential sticking point is the WWE Network. WWE will air replays of both Raw and SmackDown, and other Networks may be reluctant to vastly increase their outlay on the programmes when they will not have exclusive rights to them.
CM Punk:
CM Punk has now withdrawn from the Comedy Central show, he was today removed from the talent list for the episode.
Rey pulled:
Rey Mysterio was pulled from a live event in his home town of San Diego over the weekend, no explanation was given. He did appear in San Jose.
