AEW sign legend, Rock weds, NXT get the win, WWE 2 open door to exit, and more...

WCW star ill:

Daffney says she her doctors have found a lump at the top of her spine. She said, on social media, that she initially thought she had re-injured a past shoulder problem, but the pain this time is more in her upper back. Medical evaluations continue.

Trish talks passing torch:

"One week ago I stepped into the ring for what at first was my comeback match... but slowly realized was my farewell match, a passing of the proverbial torch if you will. It was an honor and a privilege to step into the ring with charlottewwe, one of the very best of her era, a total pro. Feeling immense gratitude to the current roster of woman who allowed me to dip my toes into their current waters. In the beginning of my career, I set out to knock down the preconceived notion of what a female could do in this male-oriented business and the current roster of ladies represent everything we dreamed of. If we laid the platform, you all have built a friggin skyscraper and we all couldn't be prouder! And now I get to sit back and watch my girls continue to take the women's division to new heights..."

AEW signing:

Tony Schiavone is All In. He signed with AEW this weekend. WWE had been interested in bringing the former voice of WCW back in, before this news.

Raw tease:

  • 2019 King of the Ring tournament returns
  • Braun Strowman to face AJ Styles for the United States Title on Raw
  • Sasha Banks' brutal return sparks questions
  • Cedric Alexander squares off with Sami Zayn as the King of the Ring kicks off
  • Cesaro and Samoa Joe to throw down with their eyes on the throne
  • Walking with (and running after) Elias

Nice day for a Rock wedding:

The Rock was married over the weekend.

Actor returning to ring:

Stephen Amell has been cast in 'Heelz' a wrestling based drama.

NXT>AEW:

The Meltzer is claiming exclusive knowledge of the details of NXT's first TV deal. He says the WWE third brand will beat AEW to TV, with a September 18 debut on USA. Official conformation is yet to be made public.

WWE stars eyeing door:

Kalisto and Gran Metalik have both revealed they will be free of their WWE deals early next year, and are currently considering their statuses. They did so in the most public way possible, on social media. This is being seen, by some at least, as a come and get me to indies, soliciting offers for themselves to consider in advance of their deals ending.
