Today's News

Animal talks comparisons with Demolition:

"We were content with the Road Warriors being the Road Warriors. Often imitators, never duplicators. We were really two guys from a bar going to a wrestling ring. They were two wrestlers trying to be tough guys. We had big spikes, they had little rhinestones that were set. The little baby ones."

He did though add that he held no hard feelings with the team.

"Bubba Ray Dudley was supposed to be a skinhead, but when I got [to ECW], they were like, 'this kid doesn't look like a skinhead. He looks like a backwoods hick.'"

On plans for D'Von...

''Heyman told me to go get the video Pulp Fiction and go take a look at it. And I said, 'well, it's ironic because both of my parents are reverends', so that's when the 'testify' comes in. So when he asked me to do the Samuel L. Jackson bit, I said, 'that's not a problem.' It struck a chord because it's home. And so you combine Mr. T with Samuel L. Jackson, that's what you [have] got. That's D-Von Dudley."

On the creation of 3D...

"I remember that Mysterio came off the ropes and Malenko shot him straight into the air and Rey took a front, pancake bump, but Mysterio had gotten so high in the air that I said to myself, 'wouldn't it be great if you could turn around underneath him, while he is in the air, and give him a Diamond Cutter on the way down?'. I said, 'lets try to take the Diamond Cutter and turn it into a double team move, so we went down to the ECW dojo and we had our crash test dummy, better known as Spike Dudley, come and take it like a hundred times from us."

On heat with Scott Hall...

"We were in the Staples Center [in Los Angeles, California]. We're backstage, probably about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, and Scott was there and me and D-Von walk up to him and he turns around and he goes, 'hey Dudleys, man, so good to see you. I can't wait to work with you, take your finish, 1, 2, kick out!'." Steam was coming out of my ears."

"I told Vince this. I am here for the long haul. Like, I want to be my absolute best and my best is going to end up pretty damn good, at the end of this, but the key to that is staying healthy and longevity here. People are going to take themselves out, people get injured, and opportunities open up. And I've said from day one, I've told Vince this to his face, I am the guy that can replace John Cena and I'm not John Cena, I'm Ryback. But I'm the guy that can do that and I can sell [tickets], but I need to be healthy and I need to be here everyday for that to happen."

WWE vs AAA:

Other than the Chris Benoit chapter, which was hard to write, because Nancy and Chris were good friends of mine. There's a story about Randy Savage wanting to kill me, besides that, it's not dirt. What everyone is saying that they can hear my voice as they read the book, it's flattering.''

Jesse Ventura talks death of a friendship:

He says he can never forgive Hulk Hogan...

"Never… I can't trust him. I'm never friends with anyone I don't trust. I have to have trust with someone to be their friend. And he's the one that ratted me out to Vince [McMahon] when I tried to unionize. I found that out under a federal deposition when Vince was put under sworn [oath]… My attorney said, 'Did you hear Mr. Ventura?' 'No.' 'Well then how do you know he did?' With no hesitation Vince went, 'Hulk Hogan told me.' And I didn't show any emotion, but I almost tipped over in my chair because he was my friend… but then understand why. When we went to court, I saw in WrestleMania 3 Hogan got paid more than all of us combined. Now, why would he want a union when he's getting taken care of?."

Bob Backlund says Jimmy Snuka is an embarrassment to the Hall...

"In the ring he was a genius. But out of the ring he was an embarrassment to society. I didn't know him outside of the ring at all, I just knew him in the ring. I didn't hang around and wasn't out there with him but I know he was very good in the ring and as good as it gets. If he would have been a decent person then he would have been the WWF Champion but he didn't have the qualifications and didn't meet the standards or else he would have been. Vince McMahon Sr. would have made him the WWF Champion if he would have been an honorable person. I didn't hang around the guys and I didn't ride in the cars with him. I had an instance riding in a car with him in Georgia and I never rode with him again. I don't know what was going on at all and I didn't want to know. My business was wrestling and I wanted to be ready to go in the ring and do my best and I didn't have time to worry about what was going on behind the scenes and I didn't want to know."

And said WWE should have fired Hogan long before they finally did...

"I thought that he didn't meet the standards and I know Bruno would have thought if I had been doing all that goofy stuff he was doing he wouldn't have liked me being champion and I'm sure that Bruno feels the same way. He (Hulk) didn't meet the standards outside the ring to be able to represent the WWF. Did the WWE fire him recently? Because, I would have fired him thirty years ago. He was saying one thing and doing another."

Bubba denies they were fired:

Bubba Dudley says they were not fired by WWE in 2005, their deal had ran out, and they parted ways mutually...

"[WWE] kind of lumped us into that 'Black Friday' where they said, 'oh, the Dudleys were released also' and that was totally untrue. We were negotiating with them and we got really close to coming to a new deal, but at the end, we just couldn't agree on a couple of things, so we just agreed to go our separate ways, so we didn't sign a new deal. We were never released." Bubba Ray added, "there was definitely a spirited conversation between me and Johnny Ace."

"This thing with breast cancer awareness, this thing that is a big deal. I read an article that CM Punk said that this whole deal with Susan G. Komen is a scam. In 2004 my mother got diagnosed with breast cancer and it was during the run with me and Cena. I went to Johnny Ace because he always said 'well I'm your boss Rene and if you've got problems you've got to come to me.' So I went to him and said what was going on with me and is it possible for me to fly home once a month or once every couple of months just to be with her and he said they could look into it. Well asking for time off is like the kiss of death, especially during the biggest push of your career. I don't know if you guys realize this but cancer doesn't go away in a weekend, it's a process. So, I never heard from him again and basically they don't give a sh*t about what is going on in the wrestlers personal lives. You are there to work and make them money and that's all they care about. It makes them look good because they are a publicly traded company and if it makes them look good well whatever then. Good luck to them is all I have to say."

Roman Reigns has confessed he wasn't happy about his daughter being used in his angle with Bray Wyatt, but has been convinced it is OK...

"The picture wasn't something that came from my home or private, like, me and Joelle selfie or something like that. It was a promotional thing that we did. It's in the malls. You can probably see it on my Twitter, so that's why I was okay with that. We didn't touch on it much after. It was something to spark, but too much is too much and I thought we were able to push a line and stay there and not go too far and we were able to go back towards the wrestling and the talent and us telling our individual competition story [as] opposed to getting too deep into that type of real life situation."

JR critical of iconic WWE matches:

He feels Hell In A Cell and Elimination Chamber have no place in the modern day PG world of WWE...

"Why is it necessary for WWE to have two Hell in a Cell matches this Sunday in LA? The PG product has almost evolved away from HIAC matches to start with and having two on the same show lessens what the Taker vs. Lesnar HIAC match can or cannot do in the main event. Bottom line is that HIAC isn't a PG entity or at least that's my take on it. Neither is the Elimination Chamber. The event in LA is sold out."

Today's News

Bubba Dudley interview:

On who brought him back to WWE...

"The very first person I spoke to was Road Dogg. He was the one who reached out saying, 'Hey Bubba, would you be interested in coming to the Royal Rumble? I told him yes. I always had a great working relationship with him in the ring and a good working relationship outside of the ring. Me and D-Von won our first WWE tag team championship from the New Age Outlaws. He got in touch with me. That's how it all started. It was pretty funny because I think a lot of people within WWE were shocked by the reaction. I think they all thought, 'Oh its Philly, so he'll get a nice little reaction.' I didn't think they were expecting anything like that."

On WWE, now vs then...

"It has been great and the locker room has been great, but the locker room was great back in the day, too. The only difference now really is the guys are much younger than me and D-Von. They've come up different ways in the business. Back in the Attitude Era you had guys that came up more the old school way, who were able to go out there and do what they wanted to get themselves over. This is as opposed to now where creatively WWE has much more of a presence and wants their wrestlers to do their job a certain way. As far as the locker room operates and the chemistry within the locker room, it's phenomenal. It has been nothing but positive."

On his girlfriend following him to WWE...

"It's no secret that me and Velvet [Sky] are together. If you go on Twitter I think the entire Twitter-verse would like to see that. She is probably the most over female wrestler out there that has never been in WWE. She looks phenomenal. I think the fans and the WWE Universe would love to see her in a WWE ring. Who knows? Maybe it will happen one day."

On a return for Spike...

"If we ever needed Spike, if we ever needed our little brother, if we ever needed the runt of the litter, like I said, he's no more than a phone call away, and he'd be right there by our side, and I think the WWE Universe would go absolutely crazy to see Bubba, Devon and Spike standing together in the same ring again."

Batista:

During an interview promoting the new James Bond film, Batista discussed his transition from the  ''Disorganised'' world of WWE, to the big screen...

''It was actually really rough. It didn't seem to start rolling until Guardians was released. The first film I ever did, I was with WWE and it was a favor to a friend. When I did it, I realized I was a horrible actor. It pissed me off because I left feeling embarrassed. It made me want to prove myself and get better so I could get a second chance. And there you go.''

"It came about because I'm good friends with Road Dogg and Billy Gunn. They put it in Triple H's ear that I was free and clear of all contracts, to see if there's some interest there. I actually called Road Dogg to see if it was OK that I went up to the NXT Nashville show not too long ago. He said, 'Yeah, just try to stay out of sight.' So, I stayed in the locker room. There were reports that I was sitting in the front row at an NXT show, and I didn't deny that I was there. I just said, 'I saw the reports and I'm sorry, but that was not me sitting in the front row. Then, Matt Bloom pulled me aside and asked if I was available to come down that Wednesday and Thursday to Orlando. I went down and talked to Triple H at the NXT TakeOver: Respect special. Then the next night, he asked if I was willing to appear, and I said yes."

Tazz praises change made by Shane McMahon:

"So McMahon made sure that whole area was padded because it used to be that by the announce desk, it was no padding. Like, where the announcers' chairs would roll, under the desk, behind the desk, that whole area was never padded. Never. And now it is because of Shane. I just thought it was so cool that he understands and cares about the safety and well being of the boys because he has taken big bumps and he understands it's hard enough."

Today's News

Ambrose, Cesaro, Owens talk first day with WWE:

In discussion for a WWE Network show Cesaro, Kevin Owens and Dean Ambrose broached the subject of WWE making them put up posters whilst in developmental, Ambrose particularly hated the task...

"That's stuff you do when you start out. I used to do that when I was 16, but, like, I'm in WWE now. I didn't know I was going to be, like, putting up flyers on telephone polls. There was a big poster with Sheamus just [scowling]. I put up 19. Tyler Breeze put up 400 of them. Just all day, I'm looking at his face, all day, and it's hot. We're in Florida and I'm just growing this hatred for Sheamus as I'm looking at his poster. Just singing his song all day. By the end of it, I'm going to rip off every Sheamus poster. I never want to see his face again."

Angle takes the blame:

The long held belief that John Laurinaitis was the man that came up with the finish at WrestleMania 19 is apparently incorrect. Kurt Angle says it was his idea...

"That was my idea, I will take responsibility for Brock doing that. At the time I had to leave [WWE], it really wasn't in the plans for me to drop the title at WrestleMania. I had suffered a broken neck and was going to have surgery, so I wanted to do something that people would remember. I asked Brock to do the Shooting Star Press, which he had done many times in OVW. I just thought it would be a great way to end the show. Unfortunately Brock came up short. I think I was a little too far away, and Brock kinda double guessed before he went. If you ever watched the tape, you'll see he goes, then he kinda stops, then he says screw it. So that hesitation caused him to land on his head. But that was my call, I know that Brock didn't necessarily want to do it, but we did practice it earlier in the week and he was doing it perfectly well, he just got in a situation in the match where he kinda slipped a little bit and that was it. But I can tell you this, fans still remember it!."

So, the business that we're in, [if] the business could be better somewhere else, then that's where I'm going to go. That's what I'm going to do. So, like I said, it's a business plan. Wherever the plan takes me, that's where I'll go."

Brodus Clay interview:

On Sunny ruining the HOF...

"From the fan's perspective, it's like what are the qualifications to get in the Hall of Fame anymore? I'm not saying that she didn't deserve... You know what? I'm saying Sunny probably didn't deserve to go [into the WWE Hall of Fame] as far as managers. Just saying. I don't remember anyone going like, 'the incredible insight from Sunny drove us to that victory'," Tyrus continued. "And here's the funny thing, like, it opened the door for a lot of different people that probably wouldn't have gotten into the Hall of Fame."

On bet with CM Punk...

"CM Punk and I, and this is the first time I'll talk about this, we have a bet. We have a $20 bet on the Hall of Fame that Milena Roucka (also known as Rosa Mendes) goes to the Hall of Fame before or at the same time as CM Punk."

On his WWE career crashing to a halt...

"I never questioned anything. If I was told to do something, I just tried to do it to the best of my ability. There were guys that would question things and that probably served them well, but I always had this stupid sense of, 'oh, I'm doing the right thing and I'll be rewarded for it because I'm doing the right thing'," Tyrus admitted. "If they say, 'tonight you're putting such and such over', it shouldn't be an issue because it's about the match and it's about entertaining and getting a chance to be out there."

Mickie James talks WWE return:

"I'd love to go back there again because I loved my time there. I think the answer is always the same, but the ball isn't really in your court. I've been able to leave my mark there and I'm happy and grateful for that. Of course I would go back if they asked me."

"I would like to make myself clear that I am very proud of this woman she is fearless, beautiful and confident. We all have dreams that we reach with dreams and goals only to end and get bigger. Nikki is conquering her next dream and I think it is an area that is well needed. When I first met this woman during my induction into the WWE Hall of Fame she was strong, jovial and vibrant and I loved talking to her. I wish her nothing but happiness and never give up on your dreams. Also a lot of you are probably wondering why am writing this and fans thinking that I dislike the Bellas .... . I never said I didn't like them I only have fun as a character on my social media etc. it's opposite I completely adore @thenikkibella @thebriebella."

Kurt Angle blogs on future plans:

''My "long shot" dream was to be an Olympic Champion. Winning gold was my lifelong dream. I also had another passion, to be a teacher…to teach our youth. I have a college degree in education. I accomplished my ultimate dream, winning gold in the 1996 Olympics, but now that I've accomplished it, I want to use my college education to help others and to teach others. Now that I am entering this part of my life, a time to slow down and reflect on all that I have personally achieved, I have a story that I want to share to help those people! I want to help others accomplish their goals and I can use my education to achieve that. Our lives have so much meaning and we should continue to evolve, in every aspect. If you have your s--t together, then you're prepared to accomplish your goals. If you don't have your s--t together, start now and make your life something special. Help yourself to help others and your life will be prosperous. And remember… push toward every goal that you have, every single day, for your whole life. The day you stop pushing yourself is the day you have given up. So don't give up. Watch, listen and learn, and make everything you do benefit you, your family, and others. That's what GOD has intended. It's Damn true.''

"I was always a reasonable guy. I was always going to put a guy over when it was time to, but if I didn't like the finish, I would say, 'no, F- that. We're not doing it', and I'd leave the room. I would never offer a solution, and so, sometimes, I was a little bit hard to work with from that respect. The fact that I couldn't dispute the finish was a valid point, but I didn't dispute it. I just said, 'F- you.' I didn't even say that. I kayfabed [McMahon]. I said I was going home. It was a walkout. Sometimes the finishes were just so ludicrous it was unbelievable. Some of the times I was so amazed with the things they wanted to come up with. I was like, 'are you kidding me? I mean, come on, man!.' I knew Brock was money back in the day when I first met him! And me and the guy are friends! We've always been friends! But it's like, that wasn't a good business decision!. I handled it in the worst way I could by saying that's when I effectively quit and I was gone for six or eight months or whatever it was. But, hell, it was basically career suicide for almost anybody! I lost a lot of money. The company lost a lot of money. It was just a bad part of my life that I handled in a horrible fashion. I blew that one and it was on me."

This is ever-evolving, you've got to know how to make yourself fit into this. If you don't know what's coming through the door, you're a fool.
