TNA announcer slams Vince as out of touch:
Josh Mathews says...
"I just look at it as someone who doesn't get it anymore, and who has lost so much touch with what his product is. [He] didn't like anything else that was going on so he literally created his own universe. I mean, that's what they called it the 'Universe,' because he created it and he lives in that bubble."
Punk's UFC debut:
CM Punk will be involved at the next UFC show, one of the fighters have asked him to accompany him to the ring, saying he wants Punk to start to feel like one of the family.
Rey Mysterio:
Rey Mysterio has made his first appearance in the US, since leaving WWE. He and former announcer Justin Roberts were at Tommy Dreamer's House Of Hardcore show last night. Roberts took a shot at the same old, same old attitude of WWE, and Rey said he was proud to be home (In the old ECW arena).
Triple H inducted:
Triple H was inducted into the International Sports Hall Of Fame yesterday.
Gail Kim speaks out on WWE's use of women:
"NXT has proven that with opportunity and time, the women can put on a show, with great athletes and characters emerging from there. Total Divas, reality show has given the women a platform to be seen but not necessarily as the strong empowered women they really are. With WWE Raw on for three hours, I feel as though they could be given a much more prominent and positive role. Why not follow the successful formula that NXT has? It was at such a low point recently that the fans spoke out with #GiveDivasAChance trending and the fans voices were heard loud and clear. I hope this path continues for all of us women. With TNA president Dixie Carter and Stephanie McMahon in prominent positions of the top two wrestling promotions in America at the moment, the future can be very bright for women in pro wrestling. Perhaps equality some day?."
JR defends DeMott:
Here is a partial transcript of a recent Jim Ross interview, where he discusses the current Bill DeMott controversy. He feels DeMott has been given a rough ride, and worries about the future, if new talent are too sensitive to take firm instruction...
He noted that he's known Demott for years. He told Steve Austin when DeMott was hired that the company hired a defensive line coach to be the head coach, which could be extremely good or risky. JR noted that the kids have changed over the last 10 years, and you have to wonder what the future leaders of the country will be like if they can't take rejection or they feel like they are entitled to something they haven't earned. He said that DeMott is a hard nosed loyal guy who loves the business, and that he wants people to do things with great toughness and respect for the business. JR noted that having said that, DeMott is no different than anyone else. JR pointed out that there is a lot of political incorrectness in gyms and training camps, and that bullying and homophobic slurs are commonplace in those environments. He said that DeMott is a tough guy that would tell you what time it is instead of how to make the watch, so he's sure there were times when he was a little harsh or tough, but he doesn't believe he was unfair.
Dan Severn on why he quit WWE:
Dan Severn has revealed he was asked to tattoo the numbers 666 onto his forehead in 1999, by WWE. They wanted to add him to the Ministry Of Darkness group. Severn, who says he lived in a small town at the time, refused, due to the potential backlash. He was then, he says, threatened with burial on TV if he did not go with the office request. Severn says he told the unnamed agent that he could quite easily turn ''Fantasy into reality'' and make their stars look very silly, and came up with an idea to do just that in the 1999 Royal Rumble match, but in the end did not. He left later that year.
