Today's News

Worse than getting shot in the eye:

A man that was shot in the eye last week, during a robbery in his liquor store, says that the worst that happened to him was not his injuries, but watching The Rock beat CM Punk at the Rumble...

"That's the worst thing that happened to me all week, the Rock beat Punk," Dotterer exclaimed. "Did you know that?"

CM Punk tweeted...

"Tom Dotterer is amazing. He's got my respect. If he needs anything from me let me know."

SmackDown taping changed:

The April 16 taping of SmackDown will not be in Charlotte, NC, instead the Thompson-Boling Arena at the University Of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee will host the show.

Headbanger Thrasher interview:

On the formation of the team...

"We actually got together, I was the head trainer for the world famous Monster Factory Wrestling School in New Jersey; which was owned by 'Prett Boy' Larry Sharp, and I was the head trainer there. I trained Chaz (Headbanger Mosh), D-Lo Brown, the Big Show among others, and me and Chaz just really hit it off and we jumped in the car and headed out on the road. We did our round in Memphis, we did our round for Smokey Mountain Wrestling where we actually became the Headbangers; Jim Cornette gave us the name 'The Headbangers' and when Smokey Mountain was closing, that when Cornette was trying to get all of his guys from Smokey Mountain into WWE/WWF. At that time, they were doing the part-time contracts and we were hired, just for TV, on a part-time basis. So we came into WWF as the Headbangers; that wasn't a Vince McMahon made gimmick or anything else, and frankly, it's not really a gimmick. That's how we are, we've always had the tattoos, the piercings and everything else; I just don't walk around my house in a skirt."

On Ribs in the back...

"It was funny, because Owen used to do fully, silly stuff where the rib would last two days. I can remember him being in the locker room and taking someone's wrestling bag and taking a padlock and padlocking it to a chair, just a steel chair. Or he take two guys bags; he did that to me and Chaz, he took a padlock and locked our two bags together and we were just like; we walk in and catch the end of it. We're like 'Oh, hey. What are you doing?' and he's like 'Oh, your bags are locked together. I don't know who did that; I just came over and saw it.' We knew who did it, because it was just Owen. Just to see what would happen tomorrow, is what he would do. Me and Chaz, we lived in the same hotel room, so the bags went together. We played along with it and lasted until Tuesday when we came to do TV and when we got there, we'd break the lock open.

"It was harmless stuff but it was just so funny and it happened so often. One time, when Mark Henry first started wrestling, he broke his ankle or his leg. So, we're in the arena and Davey takes his crutches because he was sitting down. So he steals the crutches without Mark Henry even knowing and then Owen comes up to Mark and say 'Hey, Vince wants you and he's on the other side of the arena.' So, Mark is looking around and going 'Oh my god' and can't find his crutches. So, Mark Henry gets up and he starts hopping, on one leg, all the way across the arena and no Vince McMahon. It was things like that and once you know it was a joke, it was so funny."

Major announcement from TNA:

Dixie Carter has announced that TNA will finally take their TV shows national, rather than solely Florida based, they will air one show live, and tape a second every other week.

The first live Impact will be on March 14 in Illinois' Sears Center.

She also spoke of her hopes for the company's future...

"Expanding outside of wrestling I think is important in order to grow the core product globally. Coming up with more licensing and sponsors, more programming - in the United States we just have one show and our competitor has ten hours of television a week so it is hard to compete. We have more television in the UK and that shows you how competitive we can be when we have more exposure, so that would be our goal in the United States. Again it's not because I haven't wanted to, it's just contractually I haven't been able to due to our contract agreement with Spike TV. But that is changing as well. I think all of these things combined will make for a very interesting 2013."

New OVW Champion:

Doug Williams beat Rob Terry to take TNA's feeder leagues top title.

Jerry Lawler interview:

On his Heart Attack...

''Fortunately, I think fortunately, I really have no memory of that. We were doing a live broadcast, Monday Night Right, world-wide television. I had a match, a tag team match with myself and Randy Orton wrestling Dolph Ziggler and our WWE champion C.M. Punk. We went in and had a match that lasted about ten minutes long.

Then, from the match, I came over and we went to commercial break and we started doing commentary. Literally, the next time I opened my eyes, I'm in the hospital with a ventilator down my throat and all these I.V.s in me and wires going everywhere.

That was the real deal. Apparently, I had a cardian arrest and my heart just stopped beating for twenty minutes. ... They did CPR for 20 minutes and they shocked me seven or eight times and got me back."

On Andy Kaufman...

"Actually, when we got there that day to be on Letterman's show, Andy would not be seen with me. He wouldn't go anywhere with me. So, seperately, they brought us back with the segment coordinator and the guy said, 'Here's what we want to do. You guys are going to be on for two segments. Dave is going to have you try to be a little antagonistic.'

I said, 'How antagonistic?' He said, 'Just a little bit during the first segment. During the second segment, Andy will apologize for making fun of wrestling and doing whgat he did and then you apologize to Andy for giving him the piledriver. Then, Andy is going to sing 'What The World Needs Now Is Love, Sweet Love.

That was what was supposed to happen. That was early in the day because we taped at 5:30 in the afternoon and Andy called me at about noon and he said, 'You met with the segment coordinators?' I said, 'Yeah.' He said, 'What do you think?' I was just happy to be on network television. I said, 'All that's going to do though, Andy, is end our feud forever once we apologize on network television.

He said, 'Yeah...I wonder what would happen if you just hauled off and slugged me?' And I said, 'Well, first of all Andy, they probably wouldn't show it. Second of all, I'll probably get arrested. So, I don't know if we should do that or not.' He said, 'Yeah, you're probably right.' And literally, that's the way it was left. I didn't see or talk to Andy until we went on the air."

Today's News

Hall Of Famer assaulted:

Sunny who was arrested again this weekend has filed a claim of assault against her boyfriend, (Indy star Damien Darling), saying he broke her ribs. However, after being taken to a medical centre for an X-ray she was found to have suffered no damage to her ribs at all, her (Now ex) Partner Darling has contacted Police, who told him no report was made against him, he has removed all connection to Tammy Sytch from all of his social media, and angrily hit back on his Facebook...

"Out of respect I wasn't going to post or comment in regard to what has happened, but I refuse to allow someone to make false accusations via media outlets. I went to the Branford Police Department to confirm, there is NO assault charge filed against me AND there are NO "broken ribs". #facts"

Friends of the couple claim she hit him in the head with a hammer, he did not make a reference to this incident.

WWE Hall Of Fame:

It looks as if the Hall Of Fame induction is now finalized, WWE had been hoping to have the biggest induction ceremony yet, which would have meant inducting more than the 11 they enshrined in 2004, but Triple H, who is in control this year has hit roadblock after roadblock in his hopes of his ideal group of inductees, For example...

Macho Man Randy Savage - His Brother (The Genius) will only accept induction if WWE also induct their Father, Angelo and himself.

Miss Elizabeth - They want to induct her at the same time as Mach.

Owen Hart - His wife Martha wants no connection between WWE and Owen.

Hart Foundation - Same as above.

The Ultimate Warrior - WWE were hoping to confirm his induction and make the announcement at the Royal Rumble, but they have trust issues with the Warrior, fearing if they announce early, he will demand more money, or no show the event.

The Kliq - That was slapped down as soon as it was brought up, Triple H, still says it may happen in the future.

Diesel - Ruled induction out after Mick Foley was confirmed.

Sable - HOF induction for Sable was apparently a part of the contract that Brock Lesnar signed upon his WWE return last year, However rumours are Sable was not happy about it, feeling induction should be an honour not a part of a deal. WWE were tied, they either had to convince her that the offer of induction was legit, or risk reneging on a contract promise to Brock, while they were still trying to get him to sign another.

Triple H has also been working hard on the stars that are going in, he has had many meetings with Bob Backlund, who has refused induction in the past, has been working hard in the past week on Trish Stratus, who has dreamt of being inducted in her home country of Canada. He has managed to get her to accept this year, she was confirmed last night on Raw.

Official induction video...

He has also had an epic battle to secure agreement for induction from Bruno Sammartino, it seems he has managed to achieve the seemingly impossible in getting that agreement, although that is still not officially confirmed.

It now appears that he has taken that (Possible) victory, and has called it a day, They are still talking about and to some possible inductees, but the feeling now is, if no-one else is added, this years class is good enough.

The class of 2013 is expected to be...

* Mick Foley

* Bob Backlund

* Trish Stratus

(All above are confirmed)

* Kamala

(Only issues for him are any potential special travel requirements, due to his health issues).

* Bruno Sammartino

* DX

- Shawn Michaels

- Triple H

- Road Dogg Jesse James

- Mr. Ass BA Billy Gunn

- X-Pac

Hall Of Famer undergoes surgery:

Superfly Jimmy Snuka was treated last night for a hernia.

Chris Jericho return not popular:

WWE talent have complained about Chris Jericho's return to the WWE at the Royal Rumble, it is felt that he took the spot of someone on the active roster, who were more deserving of the place..

Jericho was not the only star that returned of course, and this is a regular gripe with rostered talent, so I am not sure why Chris Jericho has been singled out for criticism.

Chris has officially returned to active WWE duties, his profile has been moved to the current roster on WWE.Com, he will however miss 2 Raws in February due to a band tour of Australia, and in late April he will tour the UK.

Mania main event official:

Returned to WWE last night and attacked Vince McMahon, WWE have announced Vince suffered a broken pelvis during the altercation, and aired an exclusive video of Vince taking over 5 minutes to get out of the ring, and being helped to the back on a stretcher.

Unfortunately, followers of the WWE on Twitter had the return spoilt, someone in the back tweeted Lesnar was at the arena before the appearance was made.

Brock signed his new deal at Raw, and will work 3 or 4 PPV's a year for the next 2 years.

After Raw ended Sheamus was given a Birthday Bash by John Cena in the ring, Dolph Ziggler interrupted and got beat up by both men and was hit in the face with a cake.

News and notes from last night's WWE Supershow...

Antonio Cesaro retained his US Title in the pre show match beating The Miz, who was injured when he jumped from the top rope, tweaking his knee and ankle, he managed to continue the match and returned, although was clearly limping, for the Rumble match later in the show.

The PPV started with the Last Man Standing Match for the World Title, Alberto Del Rio successfully defended the Gold, with help from Ricardo Rodriguez, who duck-taped Big Show's feet to the bottom rope so he couldn't stand up.

The match was won by John Cena, his 2nd Rumble victory, he last eliminated Ryback.

The main event was the WWE Title Match CM Punk defending vs The Rock. CM Punk won the match, but The Shield who had been hiding under the ring attacked The Rock during a power blackout, leading to Vince McMahon ordering a restart, which The Rock won, ending CM Punk's incredible title run.

The Diva's Title match between Kaitlyn and Tamina Snuka was dropped, due to time constraints.

News on surprise guests...

Diamond Dallas Page was approached for a spot in the Royal Rumble, but the deal could not be completed in time.

The Godfather drove from his home late on Sunday afternoon for the appearance, he is also expected to be on Raw tonight.

Chris Jericho was hidden in a bus outside the arena to avoid fans seeing him, the appearance was booked when they asked him to be at Raw is 20. More on Jericho later.

Carlito and Shelton Benjamin were not in the Royal Rumble match, but did stay in the WWE hotel in Phoenix, The teased appearances for The New Age Outlaws, and The Brooklyn Brawler also came to nothing, they were not involved.

The Rock also seemed to jar his knee when the Spanish announce table collapsed.

A musician from the band Tool, proposed to his girlfriend during the show, the scene was up on the TitanTron, and the crowd were chanting ''Yes, Yes, Yes''.

Ex creative man reveals Rumble controversy:

Court Bauer has revealed how unpopular the 2006 Royal Rumble result was with officials, and also many of the talented roster at the time, he said the plan for Rey Mysterio to win was only championed by one official Bruce (Brother Love) Prichard, and he was under extreme pressure to make Triple H the winner, it was only the interference of Royal Rumble's inventor Pat Patterson, in favour of Rey, that finally got approval from bosses, much to the chagrin of the talent who did not like losing to a cruiserweight star.

Goldust vs Cody?:

WWE may be warming to the idea of a Brother vs Brother match between Goldust and Cody Rhodes, WWE.Com aired an interview with the Golden one saying his issues with his sibling are far from over.

Brock Lesnar has signed a 2 year contract extension with WWE, which will carry him through until WrestleMania 31 in 2015.

WWE Hall Of Fame:

It seems WWE, (Triple H) have finally managed to get an agreement from wrestling legend Bruno Sammartino to go into the WWE Hall Of Fame, this year. It is still early, and of course WWE won't confirm anything until they are ready, but sources in the Production team of WWE say one of Bruno's demands is that he will have no interaction with WWE chief Vince McMahon, as Bruno stated that he would not go through with it if Vince was around.

Also Bob Backlund has discussed his past refusals to enter the WWE HOF, his issues with the company, and why he has finally accepted the offer this year, citing the venue (Madison Square Garden) as a deciding factor...

"There were some things going on that we had to get settled behind the scenes before I agreed to go into the Hall of Fame. I have a book coming out in late 2013 that will chronicle all of my trials and tribulations with the WWE, as well as my whole life."

Brock Lesnar almost quit WWE in 2012:

UFC president Dana White says Brock Lesnar was set to quit WWE and rejoin UFC for a match vs Fedor Emelianenko, the only thing he says that killed the defection was Emelianenko lost his Father shortly before the contracts were due to be signed.

He later conceded he does not expect to see him in the Octagon ever again...

"From what I understand, he is absolutely, positive made the decision not to fight ever again... he's going to do his stint in the WWE and then go away," White said. "He's got a big farm up in Canada. He loves to farm and he loves to be with his family out in the middle of nowhere."

No word from Lesnar or WWE on this.

Ryback:

Has promised to break Kane's record of 11 eliminations in a single Royal Rumble match tonight.

Royal Rumble guests?:

Shelton Benjamin and Carlito are making their way from an indy event they were at yesterday to the Royal Rumble, interestingly WWE Alumni Chris Masters and The Hurricane are making the 30 minute trip with them.

The Shield:

Thoughts are The Shield will be entered into the Royal Rumble match tonight, but there is no conformation as of yet.

Dolph Ziggler:

Will enter the Royal Rumble match at Number 1 or 2, and talk is he will do a Shawn Michaels and go coast to coast.

For me it makes no sense to have Ziggler win, he already has the Money In The Bank contract, so why does he need to win a second title opportunity???.

Royal Rumble live commentary on Shaggy's Wrestling Page later, so come and have a chat as it happens.
