JBL closes website:

"We want to thank all the readers and people who have viewed Layfield Report. It has been a pleasure building a site that, hopefully, has been a joy to visit. Unfortunately for the site, Michael Cole and I are joining another media company that will house our podcast, videos, radio shows and our social media. This has been a hard decision but we feel confident that our new platform will give us the opportunity to spread our message more. We believe the world is centrist and that our politicians on both sides have let us down-we want to offer solutions and feel that the bigger established platform will help us do just that. We also just enjoy discussing current events as we are both news junkies. Thank you kindly for visiting our site and subscribing to our newsletter. We will have more info the week of October 20th to share. Because we are going to a bigger platform we are shutting down our site since it would be competition against our new home. Soon, John and Michael both will be on over 300 terrestrial radio stations in the US and all the elements of the Layfield Report will live on, just a different form. Thank you again and we will give plenty of updates as soon as we are allowed."

On retirement...

"I can't really say who I'm going with yet or what company I'm going to sign with. I am going to sign, but I'm going to just sign for 1 year, and that's that. I think I'm pretty much done, I'm just going to have the best year I can have. Hopefully it'll be my best year, then I'm going to retire."

On TNA's future...

"Well at the TV's we just did, Dixie Carter and 'Big' John Gaburick sat the talent down and eased their minds a little bit, because I think a lot of the talent were a little bit confused and nervous regarding what was going on. I had a private sit down with Dixie, she reassured me of what was going on, and what her plans were. It was a good meeting, it was a very positive meeting. She just knows that the next deal that they sign really has to help benefit TNA, in every regard."

On clear the air talks with Vince McMahon...

"The only person that I really spoke my piece with, that I had a lot to do with in the past, and the problems I had and the way I left the company, I was able to speak my piece with Vince, and I'm happy with that. As long as Vince and I don't have any issues, I'm okay with that. What I found out is that Triple H is pretty much running the show now. I didn't know that, I really believed that Vince would always run the show until the day he died, but now they're in a position as a publicly traded company where you're not only answering to Vince and Triple H, you're also answering to the shareholders."

ON HOF...

"Yeah, like I said, I'm not going to say where I'm heading next, but the Hall of Fame would definitely be an option; I'm not going to count that out. It's a big honor, it would be important to me. Is it the most important thing? No. Obviously being inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and International Wrestling Hall of Fame for Olympic style wrestling is the most important thing to me. But it is still important to me, because I've definitely made a legacy for myself in pro wrestling, and I take a lot of pride in it, I love the business. The Hall of Fame would be nice. Would it be the end of the world if I wasn't inducted? No, but it would be an honor."

Today's News

WWE star un-retires himself:

Santino Marella has decided he will work at returning to the ring after recovering from his latest neck surgery, and wants to be back in 4-6 months...

"There's multiple things wrong with my neck. but the stenosis has increased to the point where it has to be fixed. I'm not cleared for physical contact due to the severity of my stenosis, but apparently with a double fusion you actually can return to the ring with four to six months of recovery time".

WWE sign major deal:

WWE have signed a deal with Fox's Latin arm, widening their reach to a further 56 million homes. Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Venezuela, can now access the WWE product, for the next five years.

Huge SPOILER!!!:

Stone Cold Steve Austin is training for another match, and if WWE can get the creative plan right for him, and the financial pay off meets his wishes, it could happen this year.

END OF SPOILERS!!!...

Brie Bella reveals WrestleMania heartbreak:

Talking about WrestleMania 29...

"It was heartbreaking. We were in gorilla, and we started realizing the match (Undertaker vs. Cm Punk) before us was going over (time). We're all sitting in there glued to the screen because it was an insane match. It's such mixed emotions". Vince literally got out of his seat and he looked and all of us and was like 'I am so sorry guys, I didn't think this was going to happen, you're not going out there, we have to cut your (segment)."

Why NXT women earn double the pay of the men:

WWE feel NXT Women deserve their $50,000 yearly pay, double the $24,000 - $25,000 the men get, because they need to be able maintain their ''upkeep''.

Signings from NFL, such as Mojo Rawley and Baron Corbin also make more, because they are used to receiving high wages, and WWE want to be able to compete financially, to get them to come in. They are on $52,000 per year.

TV star offers to wrestle to get on Raw:

Stephen Arnell, the star of a show called ''Arrow'', wrote on his Facebook...

"Hey WWE: How do I host Monday Night Raw? I'll wrestle and everything.''

Jericho storms in:

Chris Jericho took over a weather report in a Phoenix TV studio this week, he was in town promoting a Fozzy concert.

Celt's take over Disney:

Sheamus, NXT stars Prince Devitt and Becky Lynch, and WWE Alum Drew McIntyre had a meet up in an Irish themed pub earlier this week.

Indy greats talk joining WWE:

Kenta on why he moved from Japan...

"I wanted more. I wanted to be famous. I wanted to prove to myself."

Prince Devitt on wanting to inspire the NXT roster...

"You can teach a lot of things here at the Performance Center, but you can't teach passion for wrestling. And the five people at this table definitely have it and have had it for a long time. And hopefully, a little bit of that can rub off on the rest of the people here and bring up the whole team."

Kevin Steen on WWE ''Killing'' the indies, by signing all the best talent...

"I highly disagree. It all goes back to passion and love for wrestling. When I saw Adam Cole, I was like, "I want to help this guy, because he has a good attitude and he's great." It was the same thing with Daniel Bryan, Cesaro and Seth Rollins. Before they left, they did everything they could to help the guys they liked. The scene repairs itself, but anybody who complains that WWE is killing the indie scene is ridiculous."

NXT:

The head of NXT creative is a former Food Network writer named Stephen Guerrieri.

Actor remembers Andre The Giant:

Cary Elwes recalled an incident in which Andre passed out in a hotel lobby, during filming of their movie ''The Princess Bride''...

"They decided that there was no shifting him. There's no shifting a 550-pound, 7-foot-4 giant, so they had a choice: either call the authorities, and they didn't want that kind of publicity, or wait for him to wake up, which was the wiser decision. It should be pointed out that Andre didn't drink for the sake of drinking—Andre was in a lot of pain, God bless him. His back was injured from carrying all that weight around, and from having other wrestlers breaking chairs over his back. He was due to have an operation right after the shoot, and his doctor didn't know what kind of pain medication to give him because of his size, so the only way that he could deal with the pain was to drink alcohol. And it didn't affect him at all. He didn't flub a line or miss a day. The guy could handle his liquor, let me tell ya."

Ric Flair:

Ric Flair will have a guest appearance on a cartoon Network show airing tonight.

TNA rumour killers:

Dixie Carter's claims that she got ''Fired up'' and 'Swore'' during a pep talk for TNA talent during the TV situation drama last month have been challenged, an unnamed attendee reportedly told the Wrestling Observer that he had no recollection of that, or talent going to her to tell her that they believed in the promotion, after her speech. Also Bound For Glory is not sold out, a computer error was stopping fans buying tickets at one point, but it is now fixed.

JR on Flair:

Jim Ross has shed some light on Ric Flair's health problems...

"Now sources are saying Ric Flair had an appendicitis attack and then the doctors found a hernia which both are considered minor surgeries but my take on that is that no surgery is 'minor' when a guy is 65 years old. Details are still unconfirmed but we hope that Flair heals quickly."

Flair is set to be released from Hospital tomorrow.

WWE old boy ends retirement:

Charlie Haas is coming back, and is reuniting with Shelton Benjamin. He has worked a couple of local events in Texas since ending his career in 2013, but is now going to have another run, with his former WWE tag partner.

On wrestler lying to the office to allow him to use the Shooting Star...

''The landing is the worst part. No real right way. However, I never landed it the wrong way, which is to say I never hurt anyone. However, the first SSP I gave in WWE was to Matt Striker and it is was much much stiffer than usual. When he got to the back he told everyone it was perfect. That was very key in getting unlimited use with it.''

On favourite opponents...

''Chavo, The Colons, Mark Henry, Tyson Kidd, Kane and more...''

On why he made it to WWE...

''Size has been the key to my success. It forced me to differentiate and be unique. That's how I got to WWE and why I was in WWE.''

"...Going around now, me and Zeb call it 'Paparazzi.' I'll set someone up and I'll turn their back to Zeb, come up from behind and scare them. And the whole time there's a videotape, but they don't know it. And a couple seconds later we'll send them a video and when they're watching, we'll come up and scare them again. We've gotten like six people with it already. Tom Phillips will jump at anything. Renee Young. We really target announcers, it seems like. Rosa Mendes will jump all the time. The pie in the sky would be if I can turn it around and get Zeb at his own game."

Attitude Era, edging back?:

WWE are going to start a lesbian love story between AJ Lee and Paige. This is reportedly one of a number of what they describe as ''Edgier'' angles they have planned for the near future.

He's not ready:

Dr Tom Prichard says Roman Reigns has too far to go to get a top run yet...

"Reigns has a way to go in the ring and on the mic. They shouldn't throw him into something that he's not ready for. I don't see anyone with the exception of The Rock who could stand toe to toe with Brock after Cena."

JR reveals Brock's demands before first joining WWE:

"The only catch was that we needed to also recruit and offer Brock's Minnesota teammate, Shelton Benjamin, as well. Benjamin was an amazing athlete, and signing the South Carolina native was a blessing as he had a solid WWE career, arguably underutilized in the opinion of some. Plus, he made Brock's transition from the amateurs to the pros much easier. Robinson (Lesnar's wrestling coach) knew Brock could be a challenging athlete to manage, so having Benjamin in the same training camp was a major positive in the development of Lesnar.''

On hiring Vince Russo, despite the warnings from Spike TV...

"He's a lightning rod. People hate him, but sometimes people love what he does but they don't realize he does it. He's a really talented guy."

On losing AJ Styles...

"I hate that we lost AJ. Are you listening?. I hate it. I felt like we gave him a great offer. I really did. I felt like we gave him a great offer and I think he made a mistake.''

On the threat of TNA dying...

"All these people say, 'I hope you go out of business' — why would you ever want that? You don't think we make wrestling better just by exposing more people and giving people more options? It's the most ludicrous, shortsighted thing — the sheer absurdity and stupidity of it blows my mind. I feel sorry for the wrestling business if we're not around."

TNA injury:

Homicide is dealing with a number of nagging injuries, and will miss some TV time.

WWE chase footballer:

Tim Wiese, a German international Goal Keeper, has received an official approach from WWE, he says he will consider the offer...

"I have an official enquiry from the WWE. It's about working as a wrestler. I will listen. I didn't sh-t my pants. Why should I immediately say no? Wrestling is very popular, especially in the United States. I will discuss the offer with my agent next week."

Trish Stratus on one more match:

''Every time I have returned it's been on the basis that the door is never closed. If some awesome opportunity pops up and it sounds fun and challenging and it's something I haven't done before. That's kind of how each thing has happened. I have a great relationship with WWE and we're always chatting ideas. You never know, retirement is used very loosely in the wrestling world. There are lots of great workers right now. Seeing Brie and Stephanie in there a couple of weeks ago made me kind of excited again. So we'll see what happens. You know if that Stephanie keeps up her ways there is one woman that I know can put her in her place, just saying…me!''
